Our Rescues and Recoveries: Moving Water class is a current rescues class that covers rescues within tidal streams and entrapped sea kayakers who can be brought into an upright position with the assistance of a companion. We will progress our instruction incrementally, beginning our class in a calm water environment to review fundamentals of each rescue before transitioning into currents. Throughout the course we will also review how to adapt our more fundamental rescues (such as a T rescue) and gear into different variations we can use in various situationals. Our optimal current speed for this class is within 1-3 knots.

A sampling of the course content includes:

  • Unresponsive paddler rescue
