Whether you’re a casual paddle boarder or an experienced rider, having the skills at your disposal to take care of yourself and others when out on the water when situations arise can help keep you safe and happy. In this class we will teach you the rescues and recoveries everyone should know when taking out their paddle board to rescue yourself, others and your gear with a variety of techniques and awareness. With plenty of one-on-one attention, you’ll leave this course feeling confident in your ability to manage a variety of situations when out on your SUP.

A sampling of the course content includes:

  • A variety of towing techniques (tow belt, leash tows, board on board tows, etc.)
  • Flip rescue and other assisted remounting
  • Signaling on water
  • Proper falling and board remounting
  • Situational awareness and group safety
  • Location: Seafarers Memorial Park at Cap Sante Marina, Anacortes
  • Ages: 16 (with parent or guardian also in attendance) and up
  • Duration: 2 hours
